The Canine Coach

Treeline's hardscape and planting design draws from the colorful, texturally rich building, by incorporating annuals and perennials that complement the facade and a simple groundplane that doesn't overwhelm the space.

After two unsuccessful "false starts" with other contractors, The Canine Coach called Treeline.  The project was implemented quickly (only two months from initial meeting to finished construction) and provides a subtle but richly detailed front entry for the obedience school / pet store.

The building already had a lot of color, with green brick and an orange awning and planters, so Treeline designed a monchromatic groundplane.  The combination of standard grey concrete, slate grey pavers, white wall stone, and crushed white limestone gravel offers a textural rather than colorful experience.  The plaza is then softened by plantings: a patch of clover at ground level on one side of the entrance (for dogs' bathroom needs), two stone "windowboxes" flanking the doorway, and a series of planters filled with annuals.
